DONALD PULLS OUT OF SHANGHAI
Luke Donald, the World number one golfer, has pulled out of the HSBC championship in Shanghai so that he can be with his wife who is giving birth to the couple’s second child.
The organizers of this HSBC tournament earlier released a statement which said that Luke Donald was hoping that his baby would arrive early but in the end he chose to cancel his trip reluctantly.
The English golfer Luke Donald said that it was important for him to be by the side of his wife during the time of birth so that he could support her, and made it clear that he was a family man and that is where his priorities lie. It was disappointing for fans, though its an eminently understandable decision.
After winning the Disney Classic in November, Luke Donald became USPGA’s highest earner, as well as the highest earner on the European Tour, making him the first player to win the money lists on both sides of the Atlantic.
Donald will be hoping to build on last years performances and secure the World Number One spot. It’s basically between Donald, Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer for the title, which will more than likely come to a head in the PGA Championship in late May at Wentworth.
Luke Donald will be hoping to add a major to his list of titles – so far his inability to win a Major (just like fellow golfer Lee Westwood) has been greatly criticized by golf pundits, who fail to recognise him as the greatest golfer if he hasn’t won any of the biggest tournaments.
In spite of the fact that he hasn't won a Major, he remains the leader with best masters golf betting odds. Many critics argue that Luke Donald is the best now and has the potential to win as many titles as possible.
